T. Rhett Braniff
Of Counsel

T Rhett Braniff is a native Houstonian. He attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio in 2001.

Prior to practicing law, Mr. Braniff worked as a Legislative Assistant to a State Senator and the Senate Committee on Criminal Justice. Mr. Braniff’s work with the Senate Criminal Justice Committee involved participating in many broad changes to the Texas criminal justice system, including revisions to the Texas Penal Code, registration of sex offenders, and changes to Texas’ mandatory release law.

After law school, Mr. Braniff began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney for Cameron and Travis Counties. In his role as a prosecutor, he served as lead counsel for numerous misdemeanor and felony cases, including DWI, Assault, Burglary of a Habitation, Robbery, Intoxication Manslaughter, Murder and Arson. Mr. Braniff was called upon to assist in the initial review, presentment to grand jury and prosecution of all offenses involving abuse of children. He successfully prosecuted a deputy sheriff charged with violation of the Civil Rights of a Person in Custody.

Since entering into the private practice of law, Mr. Braniff has participated in both Civil and Criminal proceedings, drafted agreement for insurance agency producers and other employees as well as involvement in several sales, mergers and acquisitions. In addition, he has assisted clients in the formation and structuring of tax exempt organizations.
